The vineyard Riede Marthal, northeast of Krems, was first mentioned in the 13th century and is one of the Kremstal sites richest in tradition. The wide loess terraces with gravel deposits from the primeval Danube provide a top site for Riesling, which grows here into powerful opulence. An extended period of fermentation renders this wine particularly expressive and rich in finesse; it displays an entire basket-full of exotic fruit aromas in the nose, its generous fruit underscored with minerality on the palate. As a companion to the culinary arts, this wine cuts a fine figure with white meat such as chicken, veal or rabbit, but also pairs handsomely with Asian cuisine, fish & seafood.
