As in the last few years, we have a surprise in store this year that differs in style from our regular range. The Riesling Moadoi was harvested in a small part of the Marthal vineyard in the exceptional year of 2021. After fermentation stopped at 11 g residual sugar, we gave the wine even more time to mature. We were rewarded with a semi-dry wine with full, ripe fruit and a fresh, harmonious acidity. It is a wine that is playful on the palate, an excellent accompaniment to Asian cuisine, but can also be enjoyed on its own. The terraces of the Marthal vineyard consist mainly of calcareous Rigol soil made from loess. In places, however, the conglomerate of the Hollenburg-Karlstetten formation covered by loess also comes to the surface. And in the very south-west of the vineyard, an old marble quarry shows that the crystalline bedrock of the Waldviertel region reaches as far as here. It is a strictly south-facing, hot terrain that offers ideal conditions for Rieslings, which grow into strong form here. Translated with DeepL.com (free version)
